Over the next two weeks, your children will be involved in a kickball tournament that begins within their own grade level and then moves on to challenge another grade level. The winner of 2nd grade will challenge the winner of 3rd grade and the winner of 4th grade will challenge the winner of 5th grade. The winner of the 4th versus 5th game will challenge the Teacher Team on the last day of school while the entire school cheers for them. It is quite a spectacular process from start to finish!
Please keep reading…..We really need your help
- learning the rules of kickball
- developing their throwing, catching, and kicking skills
- gaining an understanding of the strategies of both offensive and defensive play
- demonstrating the highly valued traits of sportsmanship and fair play
In order for the students to have an enjoyable time and demonstrate their best sporting self, we are asking that you take a few moments to discuss the following concepts with your children:
- what a good sport looks like, sounds like, and feels like
- how to manage feelings when either super happy or super sad/mad
- how to talk to teammates or competitors when emotions run high
- how to be respectful to others even when opinions differ
- how to win and lose gracefully
Also….You are welcome to come watch your children play their games! Here are a few “ground rules” for you too:
- check into the front office and receive a visitor badge before going to the game
- behave as a spectator away from the student teams and coaches
- stay completely off of the field while the students are playing
- demonstrate the ideals of good sportsmanship and fair play
We will have the master schedule posted outside of the gym, along with the standings. You can also see the schedule here. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our PE/Fitness coaches at any time:
