Thank you for everything that you do. The McCall PTA appreciates you!

McCall PTA is proud to honor Jennifer Pilcic as February Volunteer of the Month (VOM). Jennifer has been volunteering at McCall for 5 years. She has 3 children; Addison (4th); Carson (1st) and future Colt, Emerson. Currently Jennifer is VP of Volunteers, Overall Grade Level Coordinator and 4th Grade Coordinator. We are grateful to have her as a part of our team!

Why do you feel it is important to volunteer? Volunteering at McCall makes me feel like I’m doing my part in building our school’s future for all students. I want to do whatever I can to brighten the day for students and staff and show appreciation to our teachers.
What is your favorite thing about McCall? The teachers, administrators and staff. I feel a comfort and familiarity with those who spend the day with my children. McCall is very welcoming and comforting. And, to me as a mom, that means everything.
What’s your favorite family pastime? My favorite thing is sitting around the dinner table together, enjoying the kids chatter about the day. We always go around and do “favorite part of the day.” These days the kids are coming and going with sports and friends so some nights dinner can be chaotic but a few nights a week we make this a priority. Simple but very meaningful moments that I cherish.

Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership Award
The Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership Award is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an individual by the Texas PTA for outstanding contributions to the well being of children and youth. The recipient of an honorary Life membership does not have to be a PTA member, nor must the service for which the honor has been bestowed be connected with the PTA. The only requirement for receiving this honor is that the recipient is making, or has made, a worthwhile contribution to the well being of children and youth.

After School Program - B3 ArKIDtect Super Structures - Registration now opens!

McCall PTA is thrilled to partner with B3 (Bricks, Bots & Beakers) to offer After School Enrichment at McCall Elementary.
B3 ArKIDtect Super Structures - For K-5th graders
Test materials, meet design constraints, and dream up amazing structures using a variety of different materials like cardboard, paper, straws, wood, candy, LEGO bricks, Etc. Learn about Greek architecture, design a column, design a temple and test for strength, create a LEGO structure that incorporates elements of architecture design an earthquake-proof building, bridges, build super cool straw roller coasters, and much more!

Tuesdays @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
2/4/2020 ~ 4/21/2020 (10 classes. No class on 3/10/2020 and 4/7/2020)
$155 per student.
Limited to 20 students only.

B3 (Bricks, Bots & Beakers) classes focus on the 4C’s: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity & Innovation. Classes and camps are offered in three different focus areas:

BRICKS = Engineering and building activities for kids from age 3 through middle school. While we offer lots of classes that feature LEGO bricks our programs are not limited to LEGO materials. We explore and utilize all sorts of systems and materials to teach concepts of engineering, design and building. From step by step building classes for kids who like structure, to creative open ended classes for kids who like to explore, our programs appeal to all learners.
BOTS = The field of robotics and programming for children from pre-k through middle school is exploding and you can be a part of that wave! Coding comes naturally to children through the authentic, real world application of programming robots. Young brains are “wired” for language acquisition which includes technical languages as well as foreign languages.
BEAKERS = Hands on science through Gross Out Chemistry, Elementary Entomology, Potions Lab, Forensic Mysteries and more! Science, the first word in the acronym STEM is often overlooked by many others is our field, not at B3! We take a deep dive into this critical first piece of STEM.

McCall Elementary, McCall Elementary PTA and The Inside Out Group have partnered together to bring you an evening session on Mindful Parenting. Please join us on Tuesday, January 28th in the McCall Elementary School from 6:00 pm-7:15 pm to learn about Mindful Parenting. McCall Elementary is teaching these strategies to your children during the day and we’d love to share how you can incorporate this into your home as well.

The Inside Out Group (www.inside-outgroup.com) recently spent 4 hours with the teachers and staff at McCall teaching mindfulness and other techniques that transfer into the classroom. These techniques allow them to function at their highest levels, be happier and have great resilience and better manage stress. This session will share with you some of the same techniques as we work to strengthen our community.
Note: The McCall Elementary PTA will hold a brief business meeting from 6:00 pm - 6:15 pm with the program officially starting at 6:15 pm.
