Dear Colt Families,

Recent tornadoes have affected many areas around us and in particular the town of  Van, Texas just East of Dallas. The EF-3 tornado killed 2 people and caused millions of dollars of damage. J.E. Rhodes Elementary and Van Intermediate were severely damaged in the EF-3 tornado and will be closed for the remainder of the school year.

The schools are in desperate need of school supplies and library books so they can begin to rebuild.  In partnership with the school, McCall PTA will lead a fundraiser for the next TWO weeks: May 22 - June 5th, 2015.

Please bring any donated supplies to your child’s teacher or the FRONT OFFICE. All donated supplies will be delivered directly to the school’s principal.  You may contact Karen Buitrago(president@mccallpta.org) or Molly Oden (Molly.Oden@pisd.edu) for any questions regarding this fundraiser. 

Kids listen up! The classroom with the most donations will get an extra recess!

2015 Spring Silent Auction
McCall PTA is holding a silent auction fundraiser on Friday, 5/29/2015 during the Family Picnic. Please bring donations to help the PTA raise funds for field trips, educational programs, assemblies, classroom materials teacher appreciation and more!!! 

Donate by one of the following ways by Monday, 5/25/2015 :

• Send donations with child to school. Your child's teacher will bring the donations  to the school office.
• Parents can drop off donations to the front office.

Big congratulations to Mrs. Stacy Kimbriel for being selected for sponsorship by Raise Your Hand Texas to attend the Principal’s Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education this summer, where they will have the opportunity to develop new skills and grow as campus leaders! 

Each year, Raise Your Hand Texas carefully selects dozens of principals from across the state of Texas to attend week long summer programs through the Principals’ Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The sponsorship covers all associated expenses, including program tuition, travel, and hotel stay.

We are extremely proud to have Mrs. Kimbriel as our principal!!!

Congratulations to our wonderful Ms. Lori Smith to be honored as PISD Teacher of the Year nominee by the school district and community at the Teacher of the Year Gala! We love you, Ms. Smith!!!

It’s that time of year again…time for one of the most anticipated events of the school year! The PE staff provides a fun-filled and exciting event for your child, but they still need your help to make it a success.

Volunteers are needed throughout the day (see below). We can guarantee this will be a day full of memories that you and your child will never forget! 

• 7:00 am – 8:45 am : Set Up
• 8:30 am – 11:00 am : 3-4-5 Activities
  
• 11:30 am – 2:00 pm : K-1-2 Activities

Sign up online at VolunteerSpot or complete this form and return to your child’s teacher by Friday, 05/01/2015. You must have a current volunteer background check completed through PISD in order to volunteer. If you haven’t done this yet, go to PISD Volunteer application and do this now!!!

The Incredible Bubble Show
Friday, 5/22/2015 @ 1 pm

McCall PTA has invited Linda the Texas Bubblelady to be at McCall on May 22nd, 2015 at 1 pm to present The Incredible Bubble Show. Curriculum based, The Incredible Bubble show includes a focus on reading, art, science, physics, creativity, listening and being a good audience member. Audience members delight in learning how to see the world around them with "bubble eyes" - seeing ordinary objects everywhere they look in a new way - as incredible bubble makers. Children will be excited to start making their own incredible bubbles at home or in their classrooms.
