Order your 2019/2020 School Supplies by June 15, 2019!

Want to spend one more day by the pool this summer? Avoid the back-to-school shopping rush and stop running from store to store! McCall PTA is offering the EduKit program as a convenient option for busy families to order school supply kits for the 2019/2020 school year. EduKits are custom made for our school and contain exactly what students need to start the year off right. We have negotiated a very reasonable pricing with EduKit this year. You will save money, time, and stress!!!

Order Online by June 15, 2019: Go to this McCall's EduKit link to order online through EduKit's secure website. An order confirmation will be emailed to you after your order is placed. REMINDER: Order kits for the grade your child(ren) will be entering in the NEXT school year.
This year, we are taking online orders ONLY.
Your child’s EduKit will be in the classroom at Meet the Teacher event.

Students: Bring your coolest Hawaiian outfit to the party: Hawaiian shirt, grass skirt, lei, etc. In addition, bring your 2018-2019 year book for signing.
Volunteers: Sign up through the links below. We need parents to help with setup, crafts, serve, and clean up.
Food/Drinks/Plastic Ware: Sign up through the links below. Items may be dropped off in the front office the day before or on the day of by 11 am.
If you are planning to attend and/or volunteer for the party, please RSVP by Tuesday, May 22nd, 2019 (Email Karen Miller or complete and return this form) so they can have your badge ready upon arrival.

Dear Parents,
There are a few students who have severe food allergies, such as to peanuts (and other nut products), eggs, and milk among other things. We are distributing this information to help you understand the situation and to help foster a safe, worry free semester for these students and his/her parents. If you bring any items into the classroom with any of these
ingredients, please be sure that the products have a label on them. This will allow our students with any allergy sensitivity issues to make good choices on party day.
The students’ allergies can be life threatening and the student may carry an EPI-Pen at all times.

2019 5th Grade End of School Year Events

IMPORTANT : All visitors MUST check in at the front desk to obtain a badge. This applies to ALL events below.

Graduation Ceremony - Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 @ 9:00 am
Location: McCall Gymnasium
Who: 5th Grade students and parents/*family members

Students : Please dress your very best for this event. We ask that you do NOT wear shorts. We do ask that a change of clothes be brought along as most of our festivities will transition to the park.
All visitors MUST check in at the front desk to obtain a badge. If you are planning to attend, please complete and return this form by Friday, May 17th to expedite the check in process.
Note : While family members are invited, siblings enrolled at McCall will NOT attend graduation as they will be busy with their respective grade level activities.

Graduation Party - Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 @ 11:30 am-2:30 pm
Where: Timber Brook Park (Yellow Park behind the school).
Who: 5th Grade students and parents

The McCall PTA will be providing the food, snacks and drinks for the 5th Grade End of the Year party.
Students: Don’t forget to bring your yearbook for your friends and teachers to sign as you embark on a new journey!
Volunteers: We need parents to help with setup, games, serve, and clean up. Please check in at the front office for a badge before heading to the park to join us.
All visitors MUST check in at the front desk to obtain a badge. If you are planning to attend and/or volunteer for the party, please email Karen.Miller@pisd.edu with your name and your child's name to RSVP by Friday, May 17th to expedite the check in process.

5th Grade Clap Out - Friday, May 24th, 2019 @ 11:45 am
Where: McCall Main Hall
We will honor our departing Fifth Grade class with a special "clap out" down the main hall of McCall one last time. It's an emotional tradition, come join us to say goodbye to these great students! Thank you for sharing your children with us this year. Your consistent support is appreciated!

Final Call for 2018-2019 Yearbook Purchase - While Supplies Last

Don't miss out!!! We have limited number of hardcover copies of the 2018-2019 yearbooks available to purchase for $32 (+ tax). Please visit our Online Toolkit and select "2018/2019 Yearbooks" and follow the prompts. Yearbooks will be delivered to your student at the end of school year.

Please join us for a Volunteer Lunch during Field Day on Friday May 17th. Lunch will be served from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the McCall Library. There will be sandwiches, drinks, and desserts. We hope to see you there!

Painless Contest - Extra Recess at Yellow Park for Winning Grade - Kinder

2019/05/9 Update : Our footballs have made their final moves down the field. The 2018-2019 Season is in the bag. You all did your part and supported your school and we thank you & your families. Drum roll please….. the winner of the final box top contest for this year is… Kinder with 608. It is followed by 2nd grade with 339, 1st grade with 249. Kinder will enjoy an extra recess at the yellow park and will get to have the Box top Trophy in their classroom. Congratulations!!!

Our 3rd and final painless contest for this school year is under way. The dates for this contest are 3/1/2019 - 5/1/2019. The prize is an extra recess at the Yellow Play Park!!!

The first contest we had 1st grade won with kinder in 2nd place.The 2nd contest 3rd grade barely beat 2nd grade. So which grade will win this time ? Maybe 4 or 5th grade? Everyone has a chance ! Just remember to turn in all Coca Cola lids and Box Tops in a bag with your child's name and his/her teacher's name clearly marked.

Por favor, ayude a su hijo estar preparado para tener el mejor momento siguiendo estos consejos!

Aplica protector solar ANTES de venir a la escuela. La maestra de su hijo no lo puede hacer.
Usa ropa y zapatos de jugar.
Lleva una botella de agua recargable.
No dude en usar un sombrero o cachucha.
Lleva una toalla y una muda de ropa seca para cambiarse después de las actividades. ¡Hay muchas actividades de agua y se van a mojar!
Pon todas sus pertenencias en una bolsa.
Escribe el nombre de su hijo en TODO. Siempre tenemos una pila de cosas que sobraron en el gimnasio al final del día.

Si usted ha llenado las formas requeridas y va ser voluntario en el Día de Campo:

¡¡¡Gracias, gracias, gracias!!! Recibirán un correo electrónico con instrucciones al principio de la semana.

Si usted va estar de visita y observando el día de campo:

Debe entrar por la oficina y firmar su nombre en el registro.
Pueden tomar fotos, pero solamente de sus hijos por favor.

Please help your child be prepared to have the best time by following these tips!

Apply sunscreen BEFORE coming to school. Your child’s teacher cannot do this for your child.
Wear play clothes and play shoes. Feel free to wear a hat. Bring a refillable water bottle.
Bring a towel and dry clothes to change into after the activities are over. There are many water focused stations and your child will get wet!
Put all belongings in a bag. Put your child’s name on EVERYTHING! We always have a large leftover pile in the gym at the end of the day.

If you are just visiting and watching on Field Day:

You must still sign in at the front office.
You are free to take pictures, but only of your child please.

The Volunteer of the Month for May 2019 is Sonali Thakkar ! To learn more about her and why she chooses to volunteer, please read her responses to the questions below:

How long have you been volunteering at McCall? It's my 4th year volunteering; started when my older one was in Kinder.
Why did you start volunteering at McCall? I started with similar reasons as most parents - to connect with other parents, to witness improvement in our school, & be a role model for my kids.
What is your favorite part of volunteering? Knowing that my girls and their school directly benefit from the work I put in, along with making lifelong friendships.
What is your favorite way to volunteer (event, project, etc.)? I enjoy coordinating the class parties, Multicultural night and Fall festival the most because I see staff & families come together for these events.
